I'm hopefully picking up a new rig by the end of the week. It'll be the first new machine I've gotten for personal use since 2001. Of course I can't go for an incremental upgrade, so I'm getting a Socket 939 Athlon 64 and DUAL VIDEO CARDS. nVidia brought back the whole parallel video card thing you might remember from the 3dfx era. Well, since I wasn't able to do it then, might as well go for it now that I can. How can twice the power be wrong!
The best part will be having a decent gaming rig at home again. Of course I need time to play and that doesn't happen much. I can't even get a game of Halo 2 in right now, which is particularly disheartening. My Xbox sits unloved.
There's going to be some hardcore, full-on LAN action at the Casa de Fox this weekend. I was hoping for a few people, but it's actually going to be a challenge to fit everybody if everyone who said they would come actually shows up. Should be a good time.
